Herbst Gaming is consolidating the reservation operations for its Nevada hotels in Reno, adding more than 20 jobs in the process.
The Las Vegas-based company, owner of the Sands Regency Hotel & Casino in Reno, decided to locate the Nevada reservations operation in northern Nevada because of the region's trained labor pool and its communications infrastructure, says Rob Medeiros, regional vice president for Herbst.
The company had looked at outsourcing the work, but decided to keep it in-house in Reno. The center will be housed in the Sands Regency.
The reservations center will employ 20 agents and two supervisors in addition to the Sands' existing reservation staff. It will handle reservations for about 4,000 Herbst-owned hotel rooms in the state.
