Development of new markets outside of its core Elko County business continues to provide additional streams of revenue for Vogue Linen Supply and Uniform Rental.
Vogue in early September added service to the eastern Sierra Nevada towns of Mammoth Lakes, Lee Vining and June Lake and leased a small facility in Mammoth Lakes to ensure linen delivery during winter months, Sales and Service Manager Josh Park says.
Vogue provides linen service throughout Elko County, as well as to Twin Falls, Idaho, Ely and the Reno-Sparks region from its expansive geothermal-powered headquarters on Fifth Street in downtown Elko. Routes from outside Elko County account for about one-third of the company's business, Park says.
Vogue maintains a depot in Sparks, and the new facility in the Mammoth area will be used primarily to stock supplies so that Vogue can still meet customer demands during winter months when excessive snow closes road, Park says.
"The biggest objection we faced in Mammoth is that from time to time the roads are closed. While we have never missed a delivery in northern Nevada, and we have that track record here, we understand that because of the weather, avalanches or snowdrifts, it may be difficult at times to get in and out of Mammoth," Park says.
"We needed to make sure we could take care of our customers. They are used to being in that position, so that is why we leased the building, which will have a full inventory of linens to meet the needs of our customer base."
Vogue also will employ a local agent who to deliver linens and provide service to the Mammoth Lakes market. Laundry in the Mammoth area will be transported to Reno and then to Elko for cleaning. The company is used to traveling lengthy distances to service its customers, Park says.
"We have always done well at serving rural markets, and when you are use to driving like we are, it makes it that much easier when you come into markets like Reno and Carson City, where you have more population," he says.
