(AP) - A hearing Friday about extending anti-

discrimination protections to include gender expression and identity turned heated after the official proceedings closed.

The exchange followed discussion attaching the language to two bills: SB368 which would add the anti-discrimination language to the Nevada Fair Housing Law and SB331, which would add it to include places of public accommodation, such as hotels, casinos and food banks.

The hearings themselves were calm and no official opposition to the bills was made.

But the scene became tense after the hearing, when one woman who is a landlord told a backer of the bills she was a disgrace to America.

The woman told the bill advocate she should have the right to deny or grant housing to anyone.
