Governor Cup entries set record

A record 73 teams entered the 2011 Donald W. Reynolds Governor's Cup Collegiate Business Plan Competition.

Northern Nevada schools with teams in the competition include Morrison University, Sierra Nevada College, Truckee Meadows Community College and the University of Nevada, Reno.

Entries include 48 from undergraduate teams and 26 from teams of graduate students. The competition is sponsored by Nevada's Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology.

Finalists in the competition will be announced April 6. Oral presentations to panels of judges are scheduled April 19, and winners will be announced during a dinner event at Atlantis Resort, Casino & Spa on April 20.)

Dick Barnard, founder and director of management advisory services for Barnard Vogler & Co.; Michael Bosma, managing shareholder of Bosma Group, CPAs; Bill Botts, angel investor with the Vegas Valley Angels; Li Han Chan, director of operations for the Nevada Institute for Renewable Energy Commercialization; Jason Geddes, environmental services administrator for the City of Reno and a regent of the Nevada System of Higher Education; Ky Good, managing director of C4Cube; Dave LaPlante, senior vice president of One to One Interactive; Janet Lowe, founder and director of LTI LLC; Carlo Luri, general manager of Bently Biofuels; Pete Menicucci, vice chair of the Reno Angels; Jim Newman, a partner with Holland & Hart LLP; Jon Sanchez, chief executive officer of Sanchez Wealth Management LLC; Hillary Schieve, owner of Plato's Closet; Abbi Whitaker, president and founder of Abbi PR; Rudi Wiedemann, president and chief executive officer of TriLumina; and Palkin Zed, president of JD ROW Inc.
