As part of her senior project at Carson High School, Briana Neben is organizing a golf tournament to raise money for Alzheimer's research.
According to her press release, 5.3 million people are living with the disease, which is the seventh leading cause of death.
"From 2000 to 2006, the mortality rate for Alzheimer's disease spiked 46.1 percent," she wrote in the release. "Research funds for other diseases have caused a drop in their mortality rates, and the same needs to be done with Alzheimer's disease."
Registration for the tournament will begin 8:30 a.m. April 10 at the Eagle Valley Golf Course. Tee off will be 9:30 a.m.
The entry fee is $50. There also will be a hamburger luncheon, raffle and first and second prizes for team winners.
