Nevada Labor Commissioner Michael Tanchek last week started the 2011-2012 construction wage survey that determines the prevailing wage rates that will be required on all public works projects budgeted at more than $100,000.
Contractors wishing to participate in the survey can go online to http://www.laborcommissioner.com to print the forms, which must be submitted as a hard copy. The deadline for return of surveys is 5 p.m. on July 15. The new rates are posted on Oct. 1.
All contractors who have worked on construction projects may participate in the survey, even if they are not required to have contractors' licenses.
Data from private and public projects is included.
Tanchek said it's particularly important to get data on projects in rural counties. If no rates are reported for a craft in a county, the state uses wage rates for nearby counties that may include high-cost urban markets.
