Obituary: Joan DeMar Beattie

Joan DeMar Beattie passed away April 10, 2011, at home in Carson City.

Joan was born March 1, 1939, in San Francisco to Lisle and Bernice DeMar. She was raised in Redwood City, Calif., where she attended school, graduating from Sequoia High School. 

On Oct. 4, 1958, she married Arville "Bud" Beattie.

She worked many years for the State Industrial Insurance System in Carson City.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Bud, and is survived by her children Chris Beattie, Coral Batesel, Colleen Barber (Rob), James Beattie and Robert Beattie, all of Carson City; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; brother Rick DeMar and sister Vicki Ellis.

At her request, no funeral services will be held.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of her final arrangements.
