Distinguished arrivals: On Sunday's lightening arrived here a man from China, about five feet tall, with an American wife, almost six feet tall in her stockings. Her muscular development is of a character to satisfy her husband that any unseeming conduct on his part would be an unwise undertaking. The couple are quartered in the perfumed precincts of Chinatown.
100 YEARS AGO
Charles Smith, 35, a stone mason and Thomas Carson, 35, a ranch hand, lost their lives in a fire which destroyed their cabin in Chilcoot Pass, 30 miles north of Reno. Paul Sonognini, foreman of Demartini & Lombardi's Stone quarry at that place, escaped the blaze unharmed. It was said all three had been drinking heavily, which lead to the death of the two men.

The joint committee representing the Carson City Lions Club and Capitol Post of the American Legion has organized a committee, led by Archie Pozzi, to have the old cannon and caissons now on the old state armory grounds reconditioned and place in a central part of the city.
