The driver of a 1997 Chevrolet Tahoe killed in a Foothill Road accident on Tuesday was identified as Foothill resident Dan Steven Navone, 56.
Navone lost control of the Tahoe while southbound on Foothill at about 8:29 p.m. Tuesday.
The accident occurred when the Tahoe left the right road edge and then skidded back across the road, and struck a ditch on the left side, according to Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Kim Vine.
The vehicle corkscrewed through the air, hitting a horse trailer with its roof, and throwing the driver an estimated 80 feet. The vehicle landed on its wheels, and caught fire.
Foothill Road was closed for several hours as the Nevada Highway Patrol's Major Accident Investigation Team examined the scene.
Douglas County Sheriff's deputies and East Fork Fire units were first to arrive at the scene, located a mile north of Kingsbury Grade. Navone was the only occupant of the vehicle.
Anyone with information is asked to contact accident investigators at 775-689-4623 and reference case No. NHP-1104261728.聸
