Being a caregiver to the elderly can be challenging, but so very rewarding. It is a gift to want to share your life with the elderly. We hear so much of the negative with caregivers, and not enough about all the good they do.

It is a very emotional time when we have to release an elderly loved one to a caregiver. Our family was very blessed to have met Mike and Norma Childers in our time of need. We entrusted our dad with their care, we settled for nothing but the best for Dad, and they excelled at that. I was a daily observer of my dad's care and the other elderly residents. They were treated with respect and lots of love.

We really can't say enough about the excellent care Mike and Norma provided for our family. We look forward to hearing more of their new venture and anyone fortunate enough to be in their care.

The cell phone thing has been voted in, and before Dec. 31, it is a warning. So why do I see a police officer, who is supposed to set an example, driving around with one stuck to his ear?

This is not right. He would probably pull someone over for this, and why should he be able to get away with it? So all you people who drive, watch out for a white, bald police officer with wrap-around sunglasses with a cell phone. He is a real example to our community. Might as well have a bottle between his legs. This is his warning.

Recently, I viewed a TV interview with House Speaker John Boehner regarding negotiations on the national debt. When asked what it was like to have Democrats and Republicans in the same room debating the national debt and related issues, he responded: "Like people from two different planets."

The raging debate contrasted such ideologies as tax-and-spend versus cut, cap, and balance; dependency and redistribution versus economic self-sufficiency; and socialism versus capitalism.

Locally, we have similar contrasting ideologies. Case in point is Eugene Paslov's political diatribe in the July 16 Nevada Appeal. Paslov's rant is so far from the truth that I honestly believe, as Boehner says, he is from a different planet.

One thing for sure: If Paslov and the Democrats are successful in implementing their liberal agenda, we will surely end up being the next Greece.

This is a letter to all Nevadans who will read it. It is about Nevada and the people who run our state. Mainly, it is about the state's budget, and why we are in this mess. Is it poor management of our money? Is it greed? Is it too many people with their hands out? What is it, I would like to know, as a homeowner and taxpayer? I would like a good answer from someone among the powers that be, and I am sure others would like to know, too.

I understand that our state is the highest state in the nation for gas taxes. If so, where is that money going, to help balance the budget? The raising of auto license taxes -- is that going to help the budget or go in someone's pocket? Also the loss of jobs and all the cutbacks - is this money not helping balance the budget? Or are the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer?

I, for one, am getting sick and tired of all this.

When are the people of Nevada going to put their foot down and say they have had it? It is time to hold the people in power accountable to us. They cannot have my blood to sell.

Someone, please give us answers.
