Annual Art at Greenhouse Art Show & Sale

Support our local arts community while strolling through the Greenhouse Garden Center. Along with the running fountains, waterfall and pond, enjoy the presence of more than 30 regional artists who will exhibit a wide variety of art including oils, pastels, watercolors, glass, gourd art, jewelry, pottery, photography and folk art. While enjoying th ear, listen to Chuck Wayne's soothing jazz and Brenda Lockie-Knight's beautiful harp music. Visit all of the artists and vote for your favorites.

Carson City annual Backpack Attack

This program gets right to local children in need. Each year prior to school starting, the amazing women of Carson City Soroptimist deliver backpacks each school counselor and homeless liaison on site, hotel and motels and other local charities that provide items to children. The backpacks are filled with all the tools for school so that, no matter what circumstances they are encountering, the children can start the school year off on the right foot.

NEEDED ITEMS: New backpacks, school supplies, pencils, pens, calculators and personal items like gel, hair ribbons, shampoos etc.

WNC Summer Driver Education Classes

With an increase in the number of accidents and deaths on our local highways Western Nevada College wants to make sure your young adult gets the best driver education training possible. Now that this class is no longer offered at the high school level, WNC is providing a 30-hour class that meets the NRS requirements to obtain a Nevada driver's license for new drivers under the age of 18. The class uses lectures, interactive cd's, videos and driving simulators to cover Nevada driving regulations, basic vehicle control, and unusual situations.

WHAT: Driver education classes open to all individuals 15 years of age and older

WHEN: Monday-Thursday; Aug. 8-11 and Aug. 15-18
