Colorstache, a product developed by a Reno team, is among six finalists for a $50,000 prize offered for the best application to extend the Evernote platform.
Evernote, a Web-based application, allows its customers to take notes using text, audio, video or images and later organize, share and find them on computers, mobile devices.
Colorstache allows users who use a lot of photos and images to browse and organize their notes by color.
It was built in 48 hours by Colin Loretz, founder of Reno Collective, Chris Yoder, founder of Imagicode, and Kevin Jones, senior designer at KPS3. The product is the first they developed as a team.
Loretz said Colorstache allows a user, for instance, to find red apples, strawberries and a red Porsche in Evernote by simply clicking on a shade of red. (It's available for a free trial at www.colorstache.com.)
As a finalist, Colorstache was awarded $5,000.
The winner will be selected by expert judges, Evernote users and community votes cast at www.evernote.com/about/etc/vote.php. The voting deadline is August 17.
