January 23, 1954 - August 10, 2011

Jack Moore, beloved husband, father and son, passed on August 10, 2011, at his home in Carson City following a decade of declining health. Jack lived life to the fullest. Even when battling his health issues, he had daily lunches with friends at the Senior Center, telling new and old jokes "his way:" and just being a friend to all who came into his life.

Jack was born January 23, 1954, to Thomas and Dorothy (Call) Moore in Ontario, Oregon. He was one of five children and lived the life of a young baby boomer. He graduated from Nyssa High School in Nyssa, Oregon, in 1972 and went to Boise State University where he attained his bachelor's degree in accounting in 1978. Returning to Nyssa with CPA credentials, Jack had his own accounting firm from 1984 to 1994. During that same time, he served the Nyssa community as a member of the City Planning Commission and the City Council. Jack served as a reserve police officer and was named Police Officer of the Year in 1993.

Jack relocated to Winnemucca, Nevada, in 1994 and was employed as Chief Accountant for Winnemucca Farms and came to love Nevada as his home state. He was a Louis L'Amour novel fan, enjoyed target shooting, getting away for camping expeditions and loved the rural Winnemucca way of life. In 1998 Jack made Carson City his home and worked for the Nevada Department of Taxation as the supervisor of the local government finance section within the Department of Assessment Standards. In 2000, Jack was recognized for his contributions by being named Department of Taxation Employee of the Year.

Tending to his roses was one side of this gentle man, as was his wild and noisy love of NASCAR racing. He loved his wife Nanita (Riepe) who vigilantly cared for Jack. He was a good man who loved his family, friends, country, community and his work. His voice is silenced, but he will live on through all those who loved him.

Jack is survived by the most precious love of his life, Nanita, his wife of 14 years, son Rick Moore and daughter Katie Marks, both of Boise, Idaho; sisters Peggy Farmer of Nyssa, Oregon, and Lili Stewart of Parma, Oregon; and his Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and his very large group of friends and extended family. Jack was predeceased by his older brother, Tom Moore.

The Moore family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks for the outpouring of love and support to Jack and Nanita during these difficult times. We would especially like to thank Circle of Life Hospice and the friends that were there during the good times and the bad. Your kindness and friendship leaves us deeply touched.

A viewing will be held August 18, 2011, from 5-7 p.m. at Walton's Chapel of the Valley in Carson City, with a funeral service to be held on August 19, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that donations be made to Circle of Life Hospice.
