A Carson City woman was injured Tuesday evening in a three-vehicle accident at William and Roop streets.

According to Carson City Sheriff's Deputy Brian Mendoza, Barron Lauderbaugh, 48, of Carson City was eastbound on William Street when he failed to stop at the light at Roop. His Jeep Liberty was struck in the intersection by a northbound Suzuki Forenza driven by Cody Mancini, 20, said Mendoza. The impact sent Lauderbaugh's Jeep into a southbound Dodge Neon driven by Magana Sanchez, 43.

Sanchez suffered a head injury and was taken from Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center by Care Flight helicopter to the trauma center in Reno.

Mendoza said Sanchez has since been released from the hospital but suffered memory loss which could take up to a year to recover.

Lauderbaugh was cited for failing to yield at the stop light.

Lauderbaugh said the late-afternoon sun made it difficult for him to discern the color of the traffic light, according to Mendoza.
