Donations sought for Dayton rummage sale

FAN's (Family and Neighbors) of Central Lyon County Firefighters will be having a rummage sale on 7:30 a.m.-noon Sept. 17 at Dayton Valley Floral and Nursery. The proceeds will benefit children in the community. If you have any items to donate, please contact Sherri Marsh at 230-5749, Dorothy Wingard at 246-2499, or Brenda Ritter at 848-0965. Arrangements can be made for donations to be picked up.

 

Course offers plan for financial peace

Last year, more than 14 people completed Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University course.

The course is offered again at 6 p.m. Thursdays from Sept. 8-Dec. 8 at Unity of the Sierra, 110 E. Ann Street, Carson City, offering students a chance to laugh and have fun while their lives are changed by learning sound financial principles, said spokeswoman Lynn Purvis.

"This year Dave Ramsey is doing his best to counterbalance this down economy, and started a grassroots movement called 'The Great Recovery' to focus national attention to solutions for it.

New Carson 4-H Sewing Club

Carson City/Storey County 4-H is offering a new Carson City 4-H sewing club, Novice Needles.

Participants should come prepared to have fun, make new friends and learn some basic sewing skills. Tentative plans are to learn both hand- and machine-sewing. All meetings will take place in the Carson City UNCE conference room, 2621 Northgate Lane.
