Pink Floyd tribute band to perform
Eclipse, a tribute to Pink Floyd, returns to the Brewery Art Center's Performance Hall at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
The show includes astonishing laser lights and special effects as Eclipse re-creates the ultimate concert extravaganza that made Pink Floyd famous. Eclipse takes audiences on a musical journey, performing songs from "The Dark Side of the Moon," "Wish You Were Here," "Animals," "The Wall" and "Momentary Lapse Of Reason."

Open call issued for artists
The Americana Music Festival in Virginia City is seeking energetic, professional-level performers in for the festival. Musicians are sought in traditional bluegrass, modern bluegrass, singer/songwriters, Americana, old time, folk, Celtic, spoken word and traditional American dance. Band selections will be made by an independent committee of community volunteers. Announcements of the 2012 lineup will be made on or before Feb. 28.
Fundraiser for Caden Huarte set for Friday
A fundraiser for Caden Huarte, a Carson City 6-year-old on hospice with cancer, is set for 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2 at Mo and Sluggo's. Caden was recently given four months to live and his friends and family want to give him one last great Christmas.

Black and White holiday luncheon Dec. 10
Carson Tahoe Regional Healthcare Auxiliary will host its Black and White holiday luncheon at 11 a.m. Dec. 10 with a bake sale and social hour, followed at noon by lunch, at the Gold Dust West Hotel and Casino, 2171 E. William St.
Entertainment during lunch includes Victorian Christmas carolers, a fashion show by White House/Black Market from the Summit, and a surprise visitor. There also will be a silent auction and raffle drawing with many prizes. This is a family event and is open to the public. Amateur radio exams offered in Stagecoach
Regularly scheduled testing sessions for amateur radio licenses are now available in Stagecoach.
The next session will be on Dec. 10. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. and last until 9 a.m. The testing will end around noon. Pre-registration is encouraged, but walk-ins are also welcome. The exam fee is $15 (make checks payable to ARRL-VEC).
The 2012 schedule is March 10, June 9, Sept. 8, and Dec. 8.
Testing will take place at the Stagecoach Community Center, 8200 Highway 50 E. (next to the old Fire Station) on the west side of Stagecoach Hill. Coming from the west, turn right at the fire station just before climbing the hill to Silver Springs. From the east, turn left just as you get to the Fire Station coming down Stagecoach Hill. Signs will be posted.
If you are upgrading an existing license, bring your original license and a photocopy of that license, as well as the originals of any CSCEs you may have. Please remember to bring photocopies, as there are no copying facilities on site.

Library to host Scholastic Book Fair
The Carson City Library will host a Scholastic Book Fair from Dec. 3-10. Funds raised will help purchase books for the youth department.
The Book Fair will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Carson City Library, 900 N. Roop St.
The Book Fair offers books and educational products, including popular series, award-winning titles, new releases, adult best-sellers, and other great reads from more than 100 publishers.
Scholastic matches monetary donations with a donation of up to one million books, which go to national non-profit organizations dedicated to helping families in need, such as the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, Kids in Distressed Situations, Inc., and Kids In Need Foundation.

Carson Dems hosting Christmas party
The Carson City Democratic Committee will host a Christmas party on Dec. 7, in the new Democratic headquarters, 502 East John St., suite G.
The no-host festivities will start at 5 p.m. There is no admission charge. Bring a food or beverage to share in buffet. After eating there will be a fundraising auction of various crafts, wines, and other goods. For information call Democratic headquarters at 841-3367.
'Children of Eden' to be performed this weekend

Ski and snowboard program registration Saturday
Signups for the Carson City Recreation 55th annual Junior Ski and Snowboard Program will take place from 9:30 a.m. to noon at Carson Aquatic Facility, 841 Roop St.

'Floral Fantasy' to go on display
The artwork of M.L. Bates, "Floral Fantasy," Bates, will go on display 5-7 p.m. Dec. 8 at in the Artsy Fartsy Art Gallery at Coco Dolce, 1910 East College Parkway.
Bates has lived and worked in Carson City for 30 years and became serious about photography after retiring. He has shown his work at the Brewery Art Center Gallery in Carson City, and is doing an exhibit through the C.C.A.I. at the BRIC in Carson City.
