Leona 'Lee' Nielson passed away November 20, 2011 at her home in Carson City, Nev., surrounded by her family. She was born June 6, 1936, in Alliance, Ohio to Harold and Evelyn Stark.
Lee has been a resident of Carson City, NV since 2000, moving here from Orange County, Calif. Lee assisted as a secretary for her husband, Gary, in his business as a mechanical engineer. She enjoyed prospecting trips with her husband. They were both members of the Comstock Prospector's Club in Reno. She was the editor for the club's newsletter for nine years. Lee also enjoyed needlepoint and gardening and growing her own vegetables.
Lee will be dearly missed by her husband of 56 years, Gary, they were married in 1955 in Hollywood, Calif. One son, Joseph Nielson (Debbi) of Dayton, Nev., and a daughter, Marta Marsh (Mark) of Carson City, Nev. Six grandchildren and one great grandchild, all of whom she loved spending time with.
There will be a Memorial service for Lee at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 1201 N. Saliman Rd. on January 21, 2012 at 1:00pm.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Lee's honor to the American Cancer Society.
