Obituary: Kenneth Alan Blach

Ken passed away peacefully in his South Lake Tahoe home surrounded by his wife, Christy, son, Christopher, sister Bev and sister-in-law, Nina. Ken was born in Palo Alto, CA and raised in Mountain View, CA, where he spent his youth growing up in a large lively family of 11 children and brave parents. Ken was very active in sports playing baseball and football. He graduated from Awalt High School and relocated to South Lake Tahoe in 1978 where he continued in his chosen profession as a floor contractor for many years. He then went back to school at South Lake Tahoe Community College where he received his degree in Computer Science. Ken then went on for the next 12 years teaching in the college's Disability Resource Center as an Alternate Media Specialist.

Ken is survived by his beloved wife Christy Monohan, Christopher (son), his loving parents Jim and Liz Blach. He will always be remembered and treasured by his siblings, Beth, Jim Jr., Thom (Tina), Barb Boss (Floyd), Phil (Marie), Paul (Tracy), Beverly (Nina), Steve, David (Christy) and Tracy along with his special nieces, nephews, extended family, in-laws, friends, and closed mouth trusted friend Teri B. We all feel blessed to have been in his life.

Ken loved living in Lake Tahoe and took full advantage of being outdoors enjoying golfing, boating, and riding his dirt bike and Harley with the love of his life Christy. They loved heading to the Bay Area for Giants games, riding their bikes in Santa Cruz, or remodelling their home in the mountains together. Most of all they loved being with each other and spending time with family and friends.

Ken touched the lives of many people with his active service in his sobriety of over 17 years. He led by example and infused with his trademark sense of humour and straight talk.

Ken will be deeply missed by so many and remembered always for his life well lived.

Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life at 1pm on Saturday, December 17th at Harvey's Hotel/Casino Convention Center, South Lake Tahoe, NV.
