Owner of dog seized atairport won't be charged

RENO (AP) - Corpus Christi, Texas, animal control officers say the owner of an emaciated dog that was seized at Reno-Tahoe International Airport last month after a baggage handler refused to load the animal on a plane won't face abuse charges.

The officers told a Reno newspaper that the animal is now in good condition and doing fine.

They made the announcement after a Reno veterinarian who treated the dog before it was shipped back to Texas said it had been "worked very hard" on a Nevada hunting trip but it wasn't abused.

Baggage handler Lynn Jones was fired Nov. 12 after she refused to load the dog because it had lesions on its body and bleeding paws. Her employer, St. Louis-based Airport Terminal Services, investigated the incident and rehired her Wednesday.

Detroit executive to headReno tourism agency

RENO (AP) - Detroit tourism executive Christopher Baum has been selected as the new president/CEO of the Reno-Sparks Convention & Visitors Authority.

The 58-year-old Baum, who will begin on Jan. 3, was one of two finalists recommended by a community search task force. The other unidentified candidate withdrew.

He has been senior vice president of sales and marketing for the Detroit Metro Convention & Visitors Bureau since 2006.

Baum's appointment Friday by the RSCVA board comes five months after Utah tourism executive Mark White withdrew for family reasons one week after the RSCVA board approved him.

Baum will receive a three-year contract paying an annual salary of $225,000 with a potential bonus of up to 20 percent.

Ex-executive protection agent sues Vegas resort

LAS VEGAS (AP) - A former executive protection agent for Wynn Las Vegas has sued the resort, claiming he failed to receive overtime pay he had earned.

The Las Vegas Sun reports that attorneys for Richard Olsen filed the lawsuit Friday in U.S. District Court in Las Vegas.

Olsen alleges he wasn't paid for more than 880 overtime hours he worked during his duties that included protecting Wynn Resorts Ltd. Chairman and CEO Steve Wynn and numerous dignitaries and celebrities.

Wynn Las Vegas officials didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.

Among others, the suit says Olsen was assigned to details protecting former President George W. Bush, Sen. Harry Reid, first lady Michelle Obama, and celebrities Beyonce Knowles, Clint Eastwood, Steven Spielberg and Garth Brooks.

Man arrested in connection with Nye County gas station robbery

PAHRUMP (AP) - Nye County sheriff's deputies say a suspect in the armed robbery of a Pahrump gas station has been arrested in Las Vegas.

Detective David Boruchowitz said Friday that 49-year-old Donald Ray Deloney has been returned in custody to the Nye County jail in Pahrump.

He's being held on $25,000 bail pending a court appearance on felony burglary, robbery, kidnapping and grand larceny charges.

Deloney had been named in a warrant after police identified him as the gun-wielding man wearing a white ski mask who fled on foot after the robbery just after 3:30 a.m. Tuesday at a Rebel store on Highway 160 near Highway 372.

The store clerk wasn't hurt.
