Cal Neva's Black and White Super Ball will go all night

There will be three rooms of sound and spectacle for Saturday's New Year's Eve revelers at the fifth annual Black and White Super Ball in the Cal Neva Resort at Crystal Bay.

Highlights include a high-fidelity sound system in the historic Frank Sinatra Ballroom, along with Double D and RageStage sound and staging; a transformed hotel lobby into an elegant black and white dance floor attraction featuring Soulstice Sound's Meyer system; and energetic live music and eclectic band performances in Cal Neva's Indian Room.

Performers scheduled for the high-level production stages include Bay Area bass queen DJ Laura; Santa Cruz's future dub masher Minnesota; DC funksters Fort Knox Five; cumbia/hip-hop DJ El Papa Chango coming together with the ever-smooth beat mixtress DJ Shawna; live aristo-crunk duo Lord T & Eloise; LA house and breaks lovemaker Pumpkin; Detroit's big synth soulful glitch processor GRiZl; and the six-piece ska band, Keyser Soze.

Local DJ acts include: PRSN; Duckbutter, a.k.a. Justin Levi from Pocket Underground;, Little Miss Milkrate; Coop da Loop of Soulstice Sound; DJ Lucky and Tim Herrlein, resident DJs of the Neuroweapon art car; IJV; GameGenine; and Chango from local radio Sunday Night Lounge on 101.5 KTKE Radio. There also is a special performance by Nevada City's high-spirited drum and instrumental ensemble, Sambadrop, who will be kicking off the evening in the Indian Room.

Tickets are $40 in advance and $50 at the door. Music begins at 9 p.m. and ends Sunday morning. Presale tickets are encouraged.
