Regarding the Ormsby House, online commenter Kit Karson Kid said it seemed to him that "the new Carson high-tech center and library has already been built and is just waiting for tenants to move in." Or, turn it into senior housing. With 600 square feet per room, each would be just fine for one or two people.

Hospitals ship jobs
out of state, country
This is to our hospitals and providers that send our medical records to other countries and states to be transcribed. There are transcriptionists locally wanting to work, back in school at a ripe old age, being recipients of unemployment.
I wonder if our hospital CEOs heard Brian Sandoval when he said, "Nevadans believe in opportunity. We are not afraid of hard work. In fact, we embrace it. And that's the very spirit and drive that will write the next chapter of Nevada's
history."
I wonder if they heard Gov. Sandoval say, "For businesses already operating in Nevada, we want you to know that our focus is on your growth. Roughly 80 percent of new jobs will be created by local businesses, and we need every one of them to put Nevadans back to work."
All of our Northern Nevada Hospitals outsource their transcription to other countries like India or to other states. When we are right here, hire locally, and keep the money in Northern Nevada. These hospitals and providers should want to participate in Nevada's economy.
Gov. Sandoval, I heard you when you said, "We must choose between indecision and action, between complacency and courage, between the status quo and what might be." This is why I am speaking out. I also heard the president in his speech say those three words, "Made in America."

NHP troopers disappear
at shift change
I drive every morning through Washoe Valley to Reno between 7:15 a.m. and 7:45 a.m. Needless to say, I see at the minimum 16 Nevada Highway Patrol cars going southbound at a high rate of speed. As a test, I and other people have either driven Highway 395 northbound at a high rate of speed or swerving or doing something that would draw the attention of a cruiser, and nothing happens.
Also, we have noticed that after 7:45 a.m., there is no patrol either northbound or southbound until 10:30 a.m., but a great deal of NHP cruisers at local casinos and coffee shops between that time.
I realize that there is a shift change at 8 a.m., but why do the police feel that one hour before their shift ends and two hours after their shift begins, patrolling is not a priority?
I am not stating this without verification. I have servers at casinos who tell me the times when the officers come in. Also, as taxpayers, we have a group that monitors the patrolling through Washoe, and can easily document the pattern of the NHP.
I do not disregard the service that the police do for us, but I believe that they are getting way too lax in their duties.
