Sierra Place senior living community entertainment features for February are open to the public as well as residents.

• Today, the center features a lecture on Camels in Nevada 10:30-11:30 a.m., by Nevada State Museum curator of history, Robert A. Nylen.
Nylen talk about the history of camels in Nevada from the 1855 congressional funding for their use as military beasts of burden. That enterprise was not practical and the camels were auctioned off, many finding new careers hauling wood and salt to the mines and mills of the Comstock.
• In honor of Presidents' Day, the center will feature a karaoke-style singing event at 2:30 p.m. Feb. 21. Sweet Vocal Renditions with Carla J. Wilson will have many patriotic tunes to sing, in addition to show tunes and modern songs.
• A Birds of Prey tour will take place 9 a.m.-noon, Sierra Place, Feb. 23. Jim Woods, a guide for the annual Eagles and Agriculture event, will host this special tour to view eagles and other birds of prey in Carson Valley.
The Sierra Bus leaves promptly at 9 a.m. and returns at noon. Snacks are included in the tour price of $12. Seating is limited, RSVP by Feb. 17.
