Court: Carson woman fails to appear again

A Carson City woman with a history of running from the law, again failed to show up in court and a bench warrant was issued for her arrest.

Laurie Ann Hancock, 43, was to supposed to be sentenced Tuesday on two counts of possession of a controlled substance. She also was expected to agree to pay restitution to an employer whom she had allegedly embezzled money from to support a drug and alcohol habit, according to court documents.

Hancock however did not appear in court and a warrant was issued for her arrest. Anyone with information on Hancock's whereabouts can call non-emergency dispatch at 887-2007.

Hancock faces a prison sentence of one to four years on each count when finally sentenced.

Also in court this week:

• Steven John White, 23, was sentenced to 18-60 months in prison on two counts of burglary. White burglarized a number of Carson City businesses between June and July which include Home Treasures, the Ormsby ARC Thrift Store, the Carson Mall and A to Zen. He also was ordered to pay restitution.

• A June trial date was confirmed for Christopher Alan Barr, 26, charged with battery on a public officer. Barr and another man allegedly assaulted Deputy Gary Underhill who responded to a Telegraph Street bar on a report of a fight. According to the arrest report, Underhill was knocked to the ground and kicked by Barr.

• A bench warrant was issued for Joshua Ezekiel, 26, on a charge of taking a motor vehicle without owner's consent. Ezekiel failed to appear for sentencing Tuesday.

• Robert Lawrence Gasper, 32, pleaded guilty to grand larceny. He faces one to five years in prison when sentenced on April 18.

• Timothy James Sparacino, 25, pleaded guilty to three counts of felony theft. He faces one to

25 years when sentenced April 5.
