Jottings: The first delivery of coin for 1881 will be made at the Mint. Mint rate for fine silver is $1.11 per ounce and going down. The acid fumes from the Mint were thick enough to cut with a cheese knife.

Donation to State Museum: Chairman Clark J. Guild of the Nevada museum board announced receipt of a check in the amount of $5,000 from Major Max Fleischman as the yeast cake magnet's contribution to the fund for converting the old mint building into a state museum.
