Spring sports sign-up night will be 5:30-6:30 p.m. Feb. 3 in the north foyer of the high school.
Now is the time to complete the sports packet and get a physical if needed, if you have not done so this year. Sports packets are available at carsonhigh.com under the "athletics" tab.
Students must have maintained at least a 2.0 grade-point average without failures. For more information, call the athletic office at 283-1900.

Tickets are now available for the third annual Carson High Baseball Poker Tournament fundraiser
6-11 p.m. Jan. 22 at Eagle Valley Golf Course.
Tickets are $25 for food, drink and raffle or $60 for food, drink, raffle and poker buy-in. There will be several raffle prizes.

The Carson High School speech and debate team earned the following places at the Douglas tournament:
Jenn Dodge, sixth place Poetry and Prose Interpretation; Edgar Casildo, fourth place Poetry and Prose Interpretation; Nick Hummel, sixth place Original Oratory; Luis Becerra; and third place Lincoln-Douglas Debate.

This week, CHS would like to spotlight senior Jessica Peterson.
She has a full course load with AP government, AP biology, AP calculus, AP English, and wind ensemble.
She has a weighted grade-point average of 4.75. Jessica plans to attend Brigham Young University, majoring in Chemistry or Biochemistry. She is interested in DNA research.
Jessica is active in the National Honor Society, music theory club, math tutoring, and holds a leadership position at church. We are proud of Jessica and wish her the best during her senior year!

Carson girls will play Damonte Ranch at 3 p.m. Jan. 29 at the Reno Convention Center for the Moms on the Run Pink-Out basketball game.

Winterfest is coming up in the first week of February, and it's well on its way to becoming a wonderful week. We encourage the entire school to enjoy and participate in the events that are held throughout the week.
The Winterfest King and Queen will be crowned during the varsity basketball game Feb. 4. We hope that this year's Winterfest celebrations are memorable.
