(Nevada Appeal Capitol Bureau) - The state treasurer's office has set up a program for families of recent Purple Heart recipients to receive up to $1,500 in matching money for college savings plan contributions.

Nevada is the home state for the USAA 529 College Savings Plan. The money will be available to Nevada residents who are members of the plan through the Distinguished Valor Matching Grant Program. Those eligible are children of a Purple Heart recipient from the Iraq or Afghanistan wars.

"The USAA Distinguished Valor Matching Grant Program is a simple way to say thank you for your service and sacrifice," said Nevada Treasurer Kate Marshall.
