RENO (AP) - A disgruntled Walmart employee accused of shooting three supervisors at a store in Reno and holing up for several hours in a standoff with police has pleaded not guilty to three counts of attempted murder.
John Gillane also pleaded not guilty to charges of assault with a deadly weapon and battery with a deadly weapon causing substantial harm.
Washoe District Judge Patrick Flanagan ordered the 45-year-old Reno man to stand trial Aug. 15.
The three managers were wounded but survived the Oct. 29 attack.
Gillane eventually surrendered peacefully to police following negotiations with a Reno police officer, who weeks earlier had responded to Gillane's motel room because he was armed and suicidal.
