Carson City Harley-Davidson will offer a class for beginning motorcycle riders starting Feb. 18.
Program Manager Sal Gray said the course will teach the basics of operating a chopper over the course of a weekend and will result in a certificate riders can use to get discounts on insurance and waive their test at the DMV.
A certified instructor will teach the course, which costs $175. Another class will be offered for experienced riders for $125. Students will use motorcycles provided by the dealership, but will have to provide their own protective gear.
"All the way from turning it on to maneuvering," Gray said. "If you can ride a bicycle we can teach you how to ride a motorcycle."

Where's the beef?
Taco Bell went full-court press on Friday, running advertisements in nine major newspapers around country and sending press releases to reporters - including yours truly - addressing claims that the chain's beef is not, in fact, beef.
If you are curious, Taco Bell's seasoned beef is 88 percent beef, according to their press release.
The remainder of the ingredients are water (3 percent), spices (4 percent), and things like oats, caramelized sugar, yeast, citric acid and other ingredients (5 percent) to maintain "moisture, consistency and quality."
Claims to the contrary came from a lawsuit filed in a California federal court by an Alabama law firm, which is arguing Taco Bell cannot call its meat "beef" because it doesn't contain enough of it to warrant the name.
Business on the move
Carson City Pottery has moved into the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada, 813 N. Carson St., said owner Robin E. McGregor. It used to be located next to the CVS on Highway 50 E.
