The Carson City Board of Supervisors is accepting applications for the position of justice of the peace/-municipal judge, held by Judge Robey Willis, who is retiring March 12.
Applications are available from the city's website at www.carson.org or from the City Manager's Office, 201 N. Carson St., Suite 2.
The completed applications are due to the city manager by close of business Feb. 11. Complete details and instructions are included in the application packet. Applications delivered beyond the deadline will not be considered.
A candidate must:
• Be eligible to vote
• Not have been removed from judicial office by the Legislature or Commission on Judicial Discipline
• Have a high school diploma or its equivalent
• Reside in Carson City.
The appointee will serve until Dec. 31, 2012, but then must be elected to office for the following six-year term starting January 2013.
The base pay range is $75,000 to $105,257 per year. The actual starting salary will be determined by the Carson City Board of Supervisors and will be based on the successful applicant's education and experience.
The city manager has appointed a committee to review applications, interview selected candidates and recommend three potential candidates to be interviewed by the board of supervisors. All board of supervisor interviews will be conducted in open public meetings.
