Altair wins Hawaii work

Altair Nanotechnologies, Inc. of Reno said last week it won a contract valued at $1.8 million to provide an energy storage system to the Hawaii Natural Energy Institute of the University of Hawaii at Manoa.

The project, which involves research into the use of battery storage technology to integrate wind energy into an electric grid, is expected to be operational by the third quarter of this year.
