Carson City and Douglas County are under an urban and small stream advisory until 8:45 a.m. today. Issued shortly after 6 a.m., the National Weather Service is reporting rises on creeks coming out of the Pine Nut Mountains in eastern Douglas County through 9 a.m.
Western Nevada received overnight rainfall amounts of 1-1.5 inches.
Rapid rises on creeks during the overnight hours should start to decrease this morning.
Runoff from heavy rainfall will also cause ponding of water in urban areas where there is poor drainage.
Genoa received 1.25 inches of rain overnight. Sierra Creek is running higher than average, but is not out of its banks this morning.
The county's hydrologic threat monitor is showing no serious threat of flooding. The gauge for the Pinenut Mountains is showing .04 inches of rain an hour. Fish Springs has received 1.28 inches of moisture in the last 24 hours.
The East Fork of the Carson River at Gardnerville is rising, but is well below action stage.
