An animal shelter in Michigan beat out the Carson City Senior Center for a new vehicle.
The Senior Center was up against four other non-profits nationwide. The group to receive the most votes on Facebook on Thursday was to be awarded a new Toyota vehicle during Toyota's 100 Cars for Good program.
The program pits five different non-profits against each other each day for 100 days. Whoever garners the most votes wins.
On Thursday when the votes were tallied for the Senior Center contest, Cascades Humane Society in Jackson, Mich. was the winner.
"It taught us a lot of things, and we were very happy that so many people tried to help us win this. It wasn't just the seniors it was the community," said Carson City Senior Center Director Janice McIntosh of the third-place finish.
As consolation prize Toyota is donating $1,000 to the center.
