Obituary: Iris A. Brewer

Iris A. Brewer, 83, passed away June 17, 2011, in Carson City. Iris was born Oct. 27, 1927, in Mt. Harris, Colo. to Clarence and Eula Sharp.

She has been a resident of Carson City since 1960. Iris is a member of the Church of Christ. She worked as a right-of-way control officer for the Nevada Highway Dept. for many years, retiring in 1983. Iris enjoyed gardening and camping but especially she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Iris was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence "Bud" Sharp, and her husband of 48 years, Ira "Ben" Brewer Jr. who passed away in 2001.

She is survived by two daughters, Ronda Bedegrew of Jackson, Calif., and Diana Kerfeld of Carson City; two sisters, Daisy Moffett of Carson City and Ruby Love of Taylorsville, Calif., four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

There will be a visitation for Iris at Walton's Funeral Home in Carson City 10-11 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2011, with her funeral immediately following at 11 a.m. Iris will be laid to rest beside her husband at Walton's Carson Gardens Cemetery.
