Police briefs: Man found at bottom of pool

Emergency personnel responded Saturday afternoon to a report of a body discovered in a swimming pool.

Sheriff Kenny Furlong said a 90-year-old man was found dead at the bottom of a pool on California Street around 3:30 p.m.

The incident is under investigation and the victim has not been identified pending notification of next of kin.

Woodside shooting reported

Carson City Sheriff's detectives are investigating a shooting which occurred Friday night on Woodside Drive, said Sheriff Kenny Furlong.

"To our knowledge, no one was injured," Furlong said.

It appears the shooter may have taken the gun away from the aggressor prior to the shooting, and that he may have been trying to defend himself, Furlong said.

The incident did not appear to be gang-related, Furlong said. He said the dispute was possibly over money.
