Obituary: Robert E. "Bob" May

Robert E. (Bob) May, 81, passed away on June 19, 2011, at his home in Meridian, Idaho. He was born Dec. 27, 1929, in Hickory, Okla., to Roy D. and Mattie Opal May.

Bob married Wanda June Henderson on Oct. 16, 1950. He moved with his family to Carson City in 1968 and lived there until moving to Meridian in 2005. He, along with two brothers-in-law, Jack Cowen and Lloyd Dickerson, owned and operated Carson Tire, Inc., on Stewart Street for many years, before retiring at the age of 47.

Bob was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during the Korean War. He was a quiet and unassuming man with a great sense of humor and a generous heart. He was an outdoor enthusiast and always enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, walking, gardening and sharing his love of outdoors with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was very much loved by his family and will be missed greatly.

His survivors include his wife, June; son Rob May; daughter Lynette Grundy; daughter and son-in-law Lori and Dave Hanson; grandchildren Ryan Philippi, Andy Hanson, Kyle Hanson, Megan May, Taylor May, and Elliott Grundy; great-grandchildren, Hannah Philippi, Lexi Philippi, Kaiden Reese, and Noah Hanson; one brother, Leon May; two sisters, Velma Dickerson and Barbara Silva; and many other relatives and friends.

At his request, no formal service will be held.
