Muskrats: The frequent breaks in the Mexican ditch are caused by muskrats thus necessitating the employment of two men to guard against the future occurrences of this character. Now offering three bits for the destruction of each of these pests.

Sea Serpent (Vancouver, B.C.): The body of a 10 foot "sea serpent" with a horse-like head and bulbous nostrils defied identification and vouched for the sobriety of Vancouverites who have been seeing such creatures in recent years. The strange creature had a head resembling that of a horse, except it had cartilage skull, and the body was covered with bristly hair.

50 YEARS AGO

A "Whistle blower" bill to protect workers who disclose improper government actions is being introduced ... such action is a top priority of the State of Nevada Employees Association.

10 YEARS AGO

Kim Riggs, a homeless advocate for the Carson City schools, gathers shoes for needy kids at Easter. Riggs has organized the Easter Shoe Program with Payless Shoe Source for the past four years. The community donated 330 pairs in 2000. In 2001 there are 336 children in need.
