Bill would expand candidate pool for Carson airport board

The Assembly Government Affairs Committee was asked Monday to change the rules to make it easier to get business representatives on the Carson City Airport Authority board.

Steve Tackes told the panel two of the seven members on that board are manufacturers at the airport industrial center. He said the problem is that isn't a big enough pool of people and that the Carson Board of Supervisors have had problems finding someone willing to sit on the board.

Assembly Bill 103 expands the area where supervisors can consider applicants for those two manufacturer seats from the airport industrial center to any manufacturer within a three-mile radius of the airport.

Tackes said the manufacturers have proven a valuable addition to the board because "they bring business sense to the board."

There was no opposition to the bill requested by Assemblyman Pete Livermore, R-Carson City.
