Carson City Parks and Recreation has been selected to receive two Elmer H. Anderson Park Excellence Awards at the 2011 Nevada Recreation and Park Society State Conference.
The awards are for the Morgan Mill Road River Access and Baily Fishing Pond projects. Project designers and contractors will receive award plaques at the event as well.
"Our department is very excited about receiving the Elmer H. Anderson awards for these great projects and the quality of life they bring to the public, specifically our Carson City residents," said Park Planner Vern Krahn.
And Kevin Baily, after whom the fishing pond was named, was also thrilled at the news received by the parks department.
"I am overjoyed for your receipt of these worthy awards, and celebrate with you and every citizen who enjoys our parks," Baily said.
Awards will be presented March 17 at the society's awards and installation social in Henderson. For more information on the conference, go to www.nrps.org.
