Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern Nevada will hold its annual Grand Chefs Gala April at 5:30 p.m. April 2 at The Atlantis Casino Spa Resort Paradise Ballroom in Reno.

The fundraiser will feature 14 of Reno and Northern Nevada's most exceptional chefs. Guests will receive an up-close experience with their own chef who will prepare a unique multi-course menu tableside, paired perfectly with premium wines. The fun for many guests will be the surprise, as guests won't know who their chef is until they arrive, unless for a premium price, guests are able to select their chef.

The evening events will feature emcees Brent Boynton and Jennifer Burton. There will be a live silent and dessert auction.

All proceeds from the Grand Chefs Gala will benefit the Big Brothers Big Sisters youth mentor program that in 2010 matched over 1,000 "Littles" with mentors in Northern Nevada.

Tickets for this gala can be purchased for $150 individual or $1,350 for a table of 10, or premium table, choose own chef, for $2,500.

The Mammovan will visit two Carson City locations next week offering mammograms to geographically isolated and uninsured women. Mammograms will be available at no charge by appointment only, for age- and income-eligible women.

The Mammovan will be at Friends In Service Helping from 7:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Monday at 138 E. Long St. and at Smith's Food and Drug from 7:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Tuesday at 599 E. William St. Insured, uninsured, Medicare and Medicaid women will be served.
