The Elko Regional Airport last week selected The Younger Agency of Reno to develop a new advertising campaign and oversee advertising sales at the airport for the next five years.
Part of the new advertising program calls for the installation of two digital video screens, an interactive touch-screen reservation center and LED advertising displays that replace traditional backlit advertising found at the airport.
"We are excited for this opportunity to help the airport develop its advertising program; this is a perfect time to be a part of the Elko area's economic growth and expansion," says Liz Younger, owner of The Younger Agency.
Amy Mager, an employee of The Younger Agency for four years, will handle sales for the Elko Regional Airport. Mager also handles sales activities for Juneau International Airport in Juneau, Alaska.
Elko Regional Airport director Trent Moyer said the airport felt its advertising efforts were underutilized with its former agreement with Clear Channel Communications, and that many of the advertising displays were vacant or displayed artwork rather than paid advertising.
The airport chose The Younger Agency in part due to the company's experience with airport advertising and its ties to local markets.
"They are based in Reno, they have connections to Elko, and we think that was one of significant factors, that we would be able to get coverage and help with local merchants advertising in the airport," Moyer says.
All existing advertising displays have been removed, and Moyer expects the new displays to be in place by mid-May or early June.
"We hope to begin generating more revenue by using The Younger Agency and have more clients that is something we didn't have before. We had a lot of empty displays. We weren't maximizing our investment in advertising, and hopefully this agreement will take care of that," Moyer says.
