Obituary: Elizabeth Viola Cauch Hagerty

Elizabeth (Liz) Hagerty of Carson City, passed away on May 9, 2011. She was born to Elbert Ernest Cauch and Lela Bell Crawley in Lindsay, Calif. She was raised in southern and northern California coming to Carson City from Downieville, Calif. She was predeceased by her parents, her brothers Mark E. Cauch and Carl Cauch, and her son Charles Hagerty. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Ann Fike (Darrell) of Carson City, Barbara Lee Bouteller of Shady Cove, Ore., and her brother Darrel Cauch of Carson City. Surviving grandchildren are Elizabeth R. Forgays (LaMonte), Robert G. Bagley (Terri), Brian Bouteller (Shonna) and Christi Starks (Randy). She has 10 surviving great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandson, Khristian Allen Clark Bouteller and several nieces and nephews.

Liz was employed in the casino industry as a dealer for more than 35 years in the Reno-Sparks area, most notably 14 years with John Ascuagua's Nugget.  

Her greatest love was of the desert, rockhounding and arrowhead hunting, studying Indian culture and artifacts, fishing at Lake Lahontan, joining her friends of the Reno Gem and Mineral Society on long weekend hunts and camping. She was an accomplished artist and taught painting at the Fernley Senior Center. While living in Silver Springs, she was an active member of the senior center making many friends there. She loved to play her organ when able and planting her garden with produce and different flowers, trees and shrubs.

Visitation will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 16 at FitzHenry's on Fairview Dr. in Carson City with a graveside service to follow at 12:30 p.m. at the Masonic area of Lone Mountain Cemetary, Beverly Dr., Carson City.
