Public relations programs and tactics honored by The Sierra Nevada Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America during its annual Silver Spikes Awards events included:

* The Glenn Group: Silver Spike for ongoing programs with a budget of more than $25,000 for "The Summit Public Relations Program." Award of Excellence in Media Relations for "50/50 Tribute Ride." Judge's Choice Award for "The Summit Public Relations Program."

* Abbi Public Relations Inc: Silver Spike in Media Relations for "Diggerslist.com Media Relations."

* R&R Partners: Award of Excellence in Marketing Communications for Terry Lee Wells Nevada Discovery Museum-"Believe in Up"

* Weidinger Public Relations: Award of Excellence in special events with a budget of more than $25,000 for "Golf the High Sierra Media Tour." Award of Excellence in ongoing programs with budget of more than $25,000 for "American Century Championship Tahoe Celebrity Golf." Award of Excellence in overall campaigns with a budget of more than $25,000 for "Amgen Tour of California."

* RKPR Inc.: Student's Choice Award selected by publications relations students at the University of Nevada, Reno, for Ascent Douglas "Tweet for Chips."

* Washoe County School District: Silver Spike in Internet-based Communications for "WCSD Facebook Snow Day Snowman Contest." Award of Excellence in special events with a budget less than $10,000 for "Countdown to Graduation." Judge's Choice Award for "WCSD Facebook Snow Day Snowman Contest."

* City of Sparks: Award of Excellence in Internet-based Communications for "It's Happening Here" Web site.

* University of Nevada, Reno: Award of Merit in Community Relations for "National Merit Scholars: Signing the state's best and brightest academic athletes."

* Nevada National Guard, Award of Excellence in Annual Reports for "Nevada National Guard Biennial Report." Award of Excellence in Magazines for " Nevada National Guard Battle Born Magazine."
