An atrocious murder.: Two miles from Double Springs on the Bodie Road the murder of a man named Dowd was reported. He was about 60 years of age and was found by two Indians in his cabin Sunday. On examination it was found he had two deep stab wounds to his neck and was hit on the side of the head with an axe. Dowd had steady habits from raising vegetables and selling coal and had saved a sum of money. The coroner at Genoa will take charge of the body.

Yesterday arguments made by Professor Stubbs of the University of Nevada with California horticulturists whereby the embargo on Nevada spuds is to be lifted and transport to begin to western sections. By arrangements made with California the embargo will be lifted where the eel worm is not in evidence.

The Army unexpectedly ordered soldiers with fixed bayonets stand vigilant guard at all power stations and key points in Honolulu. Soldiers were suddenly called from the bars and the streets. Authorities called the alert "routine training."

Ormsby County residents should check their street markers while going to work because they may find they live on a different street than when they left. It is not a job of a prankster, but of the County Planning Commission resolving street numbering and naming duplications.

A medic helicopter slams into a California mountainside killing all four people on the route to Washoe Medical Center. Killed on the flight was Bobby Franco, 33, of Carson City.
