Washoe sales dip

Taxable sales in Washoe County during September fell by 1.4 percent from year-earlier levels, the Nevada Department of Taxation said last week.

Sales rose by 2.6 percent in Carson City and rose by 4.4 percent in Douglas County.

Automotive sales in Washoe County were down by 34 percent from a year earlier, and department store sales were down by 3.3 percent. Clothing stores were up 12.7 percent.

In Carson City, automotive sales were essentially flat compared with year-earlier figures.
