Gloria Theresa Powers-Lavatai, 52, of Carson City, NV returned to her Heavenly Father Thurs. Sept 22, 2011.

Born May 12, 1959 in Houston, TX., "Terry" was the daughter of Gloria Corvin and the late Joe H. Powers. After military travels throughout her childhood, she settled in Kings Beach, CA and Incline Village, NV while raising her daughter Jeanette Powers-Martinez. She was a Blackjack dealer for the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe from May 1980 to August 2011, where she met her life long love. She married Raymond Lavatai on Feb. 07, 07 in Carson City, NV where they continued to reside together.

Terry was one of the friendliest, most compassionate, giving person anyone had ever known. She was a people person, always liked to strike up a conversation and make everyone feel at home. She cherished her time spent with her 3 grandsons, Kenneth Paul, Matthew, and Tristan. She also loved helping others as well as taking care of her 3 dogs. Terry enjoyed singing and dancing especially to Hawaiian music played by her husband and his band. To her family and closest friends she is simply irreplaceable. Her passing leaves an emptiness in our hearts that simply cannot be filled.

Terry is survived by her husband Raymond Lavatai, her daughter Jeanette and son-in-law Kenneth, her 3 grandson K.P, Matthew, and Tristan, her mother Gloria Corvin and stepfather Tom Corvin, her grandmother Gloria Martinez, her sister Debbie Fulghum and her husband Robby; her step-sister, Jodie Real; her brother John Powers and his wife Susan, her brother Robert Powers and his wife Jeanie, she is further survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, other relatives and many close family friends.

She is preceded in death by her beloved father Joe. H Powers and stepmother Peggy Powers, and her grandfather John Martinez.

Memorial Services for Terry will be held at the Carson City Plaza Conference Room, 801 S. Carson St. Carson City, Saturday Oct. 15, 2011 at 10 am. We will continue with a Celebration of Life potluck on premise. Online Condolences may be offered to the family at www.mem.com.
