Transport company opens facility

A fast-growing company that transports heavy equipment such as drill rigs and provides hauling of materials for construction projects has moved to a new facility at 235 London Drive in Tahoe Reno Industrial Center.

Chicken Hawk Transport last week began operations in a 5,000-square-foot facility. The company previously was located at 120 Trinity Lane in south Reno.

Ryan Stoughton, general manager of the company, said the company has begun taking applications for mechanics, drivers and general yard hands and plans a job fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 22 at the new facility.

Chicken Hawk Transport, which was founded 11 years ago, will employ 40 at the new facility.

"Our company has seen substantial increases in growth over the last few years," Stoughton said.

It hauls big equipment such as the gears used for geothermal and mining development, moves construction equipment on its fleet of lowboy trailers, builds pads for drilling rigs and hauls dirt and other construction materials.

"If you have something that needs to be moved, we can do it," Stoughton said. He said the company's growth has been boosted by a 30-vehicle fleet that allows it to customize hauling solutions for a wide variety of customers.

He said the new facility will provide an expanded shop to service the company's fleet and will provide three acres of equipment storage space. That, in turn, will allow Chicken Hawk Transport to coordinate large projects for customers more easily, Stoughton said.

The company also operates a facility at Twin Falls, Idaho.
