(Nevada Appeal Capitol Bureau) - Gov. Brian Sandoval has issued an executive order directing the P-16 education advisory council to begin reviewing and reforming educational data systems for public schools.

The council was created by statute to coordinate education reforms in Nevada.

"The effective use of high quality education data is integral to the success of these reforms," he said.

The council consists of 11 members including members of the legislature as well as the board of regents and the public. Its task includes identifying resource needs from staffing to technology and funding, developing policies for sharing data on students including protection of privacy and creating a vision for the state's education and workforce development needs.

They have until August 2012 to complete the task.
