Mrs. Elizabeth Fulstone, wife of Henry Fulstone, died in this city yesterday morning. Mrs. Fulstone was one of the oldest residents of Carson, having resided here when Nevada was Utah. She was about 75 years of age and a native of Bristol, England. Her life was exemplary.
100 YEARS AGO
Word has been received from Winnemucca that Phillip Verrill Mighels has passed as a result of a gunshot wound while quail hunting. Mighels was born and raised in Carson City and was about 42 years old. His mother, Mrs. Sam Davis was in Winnemucca at his side. Mighels had gained national attention as a great writer.

Mr. C. B. Austin, mayor of Carson, was the distinguished guest at the regular dinner of the Carson City Business and Professional Women's Club. Mayor Austin gave an interesting resume and report on the progress of the four point civic improvement plan.

A special national newspaper week display will be featured at the Nevada State Library during Newspaper Week. State Librarian Joseph F. Shubert said the library has almost a complete file of the Nevada Appeal from its first issue of May 16, 1865, on display.

Saturday downtown Carson will be transformed into a gigantic picnic for the Mainstreet program's Great Chili Cook-Off II plus Pizza Party.

Fuji Park still is up for sale, but after the Sept. 11 attacks, developers have taken a step back.
