Coming in Sunday's Nevada Appeal

The Sunday edition of the Nevada Appeal will contain something for almost everyone:

• Tears and smiles: In honor of their father and grandfather, the Ronnie Johnson family will be entertaining one last time as the Ronnie Johnson Family of Clowns in this year's Nevada Day Parade.

• Static over cell deal: The proposed merger between AT&T and T-Mobile is debated in a pro-and-con pair of essays. Weighing in are state Sen. James Settelmeyer, R-Gardnerville, in favor of the deal; and former Public Utilities Commissioner Timothy Hay, who opposes it.

• A matter of faith: Columnist Guy W. Farmer chides those who would weave candidates' religion into political debates.

• How much government? Professor Elliott Parker, chairman of the economics department at the University of Nevada-Reno, crunches the numbers to make his case that the U.S. actually has a relatively small government for a developed nation.

• Heart and sole: Cobbler Alberto Garcia, proprietor of Alberto's Boot and Shoe Repair, appears to be one of the last of his breed, at least in the Carson City area.
