Two people have been arrested in the July armed robbery of a Fernley casino.
An anonymous tip led investigators to Kendra Torres, 41, and Thomas McNaul, 29, both of Fernley, said Lyon County sheriff's Lt. Bryan Veil. Both were arrested Tuesday and booked into the Lyon County Jail on suspicion of felony armed robbery.
A third suspect, Jason Torres, 40, is currently in the Washoe County Jail on federal child pornography charges, but is expected to be charged in the casino heist, said Veil. Jason Torres is the ex-husband of Kendra Torres. Both McNaul and Jason Torres are former employees of the casino.
Two masked robbers, familiar with the routine at the Pioneer Crossing Casino, entered the cashier's cage about 2:30 a.m. July 25 and ordered workers to hand over the cash. The robbers then fled with more than $64,000, said Veil.
On Tuesday morning, Lyon County investigators served a search warrant at 480 Sage Drive in Fernley, where McNaul was arrested. Later Tuesday, detectives arrested Kendra Torres at her home.
Veil said Kendra Torres and McNaul are cooperating with investigators. He said an arrest warrant is being sought for Jason Torres. Bail for Kendra Torres and McNaul is $100,000 each.
The investigation was conducted in conjunction with the Pioneer Crossing Casino management, as well as the Nevada Gaming Control Board.
Veil said no money was recovered.
